We’ve seen hundreds of accounts being created at EA.com by fraudulent actors. These account creations end up having emails delivered to the email addresses associated with these accounts. There is no way to easily delete these accounts. I’ve requested the accounts associated with my company be deleted. EA support said they can’t do this. Because of this, I’ll be blocking all emails from any address at ea.com. This is a choice made by EA. I’m wondering what the motivation is for these account creations. The only thing I can see is reports from a few years ago where EA accounts were being sold. Given there are no games or inventory associated with these accounts, I don’t see where they’d be valuable. I see on EA forums several people reporting this happening to them, although those are one-offs. I’m confident there are other companies seeing hundreds or even thousands of accounts created associated with email addresses at those companies. We’ll see where this leads.
